Violet Lake is the brainchild of Ursula Lake who has been working as a Fashion Editor for more than 10 years. She has worked on a number of different publications throughout her career including Contributing Fashion Editor for the Sunday Telegraph’s Stella Magazine. She currently works as the Fashion Director of Country and Townhouse Magazine

The idea of Violet Lake had been in Ursula’s mind for a long time but in 2009, after an exhaustive and disappointing search for the right bikini, she finally decided to design her own line. She felt there was a real lack of well fitting, flattering bikinis in quality fabrics that weren't extremely expensive.

“I would find a style of bikini that I liked, but hate the colour or the fabric it was made in. Additionally I would find that the top half of bikini would fit me but the bottoms wouldn’t. The clasps would get hot in the sun, break easily and were seemingly impossible to do up on your own. Bikinis with clasp fastenings do not allow for a variety of ribcage sizes and often provide a poor fit. Bikini tops designed with bra cup sizes in mind always seemed to look like you were wearing your underwear on the beach! You wouldn't tell a woman to buy her bra and knickers in a dress size set, so why should you have to buy a bikini that way? It seemed bizarre that there wasn’t more choice in this area when after all, it’s as naked as you ever are in public!”

The concept behind Violet Lake is simple; there are six different styles of interchangeable bikini tops and six bottoms and all of these come in five different sizes and in thirteen different colours. Uniquely, all the bikini tops have tie fastenings so that you can really fit them to your body and make them as supportive as you need them to be. The colours have been chosen so that they harmonise with at least two others within the range, so you don't have to conform to wearing the same coloured top and bottom and allows you to create a unique ensemble, in fact there are over 2 thousand possible colour and style combinations! We also have four styles of one piece swimsuits that are available in ten different colours.

These classic and timeless bikini are fully lined and made of the best quality swimwear fabric,  Italian Jersey Lomellina, which is very soft and has an elegant matt finish. This material is the same fabric that is used by most luxury swimwear brands, but sold here at much more affordable prices.
